The SpaceRider Cycle 2020 by the German-born artist Ati Maier received multiple laurels and is currently on view as a four-channel-video installation at the Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg in Germany. Timespecific is proud to present Ati Maier’s SpaceRider Cycle 2020 to make it available to our on-line community.

The SpaceRider 2020 is arranged as a Medicine Wheel with the four colors for the cardinal directions. During her stay in the American West, Ati was impressed by insights she gained into the beliefs of the Oglala Lakota Indians, whose philosophy strives for COSMIC balance and is symbolized by the wheel. It explains both the movements of the celestial bodies and is also the foundation of holistic healing.

You can find further information in the Catalogue, The SpaceRider Cycle 2020, published by the Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg, with essays by Susanne Pfleger, Ati Maier, Gregory Volk, Brian Chidester, Matthew Day Jackson interviews with Marvin goings and Charly Newholy from the Lakota Nation.
